Project Background
We’re updating our Transportation Master Plan (TMP) to guide how people and goods move through Perth over the next 20 years.
This plan will build on previous work and set a clear direction for a transportation system that is safe, efficient, and sustainable. It will also help us identify and prioritize the improvements needed to support growth in our community.
Why This Matters
Perth has grown and changed over the past 15 years, including boundary expansions and new development. With more growth on the way—like new subdivisions, road connections, and future improvements to Highway 7—how people and goods move through our community is changing too.
Updating our Transportation Master Plan will help us:
- Set a clear, long-term vision for our transportation network
- Support safe and efficient travel for residents, visitors, and businesses
- Plan for a more sustainable, accessible, and connected system
The plan will look at all ways people get around—by car, on foot, by bike, and more. It will help us identify and prioritize short-, medium-, and long-term improvements across the community, including new and growing areas.
This work builds on previous plans and strategies, including:
The Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Process
This project follows the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process, which is required for municipal infrastructure planning.
As part of this work, we’ll identify transportation needs and opportunities, and look at different ways to address them at a high level.
This study completes the first two phases of the EA process.
The Transportation Master Plan will act as a guide for future projects. Any specific projects that move forward will go through additional study and review as required under the EA process.
